Asbestos Roof Removal & Renewal
Clearaway Asbestos will remove your old asbestos roof and replace it with one of the following:
- Galvanised Steel Box Profile Roofing
- Flat Roof
- 3-Layer Torch-On Felt Roofing
- Tiled Roofing
- Fibre Corrugated Cement Sheets (Non Asbestos)
- Corrugated Fibreboard Roofing
All jobs include the option of boxing out if required by the client, and the client chooses their own roof. We will only fit your replacement roofing when we are completely sure that the area is free from asbestos.
Our thorough asbestos surveys enable us to ensure this. Safety is our top priority when it comes to removal, disposal and roof repair, and our team is highly experienced and knows exactly how to work with asbestos safely.

Why garage roofs are the most common job
Most of the asbestos we remove comes from garage roofs. In Surrey and South London, thousands of detached and semi-detached garages were built between the 1950s and 1980s using corrugated asbestos cement sheets. Cheap, fire-resistant and everywhere.
If your garage was built before 2000, there is a strong chance the roof contains asbestos. The sheets may look intact and weathered but otherwise fine. The risk comes when the surface starts to break down: moss growth, cracking and weathering release fibres into the air, particularly when disturbed.
We remove sheets intact wherever possible. Each one is lowered carefully, double-wrapped in heavy-duty polythene, labelled and transported to a licensed waste facility. You receive a waste consignment note confirming legal disposal.

Once the asbestos sheets are off, you have options. Many customers ask us to fit a new lightweight roof using Plastisol-coated steel or non-asbestos fibre cement. Others use the removal as the first step before a full garage demolition, which we also handle.
If you want a new roof, we quote for the replacement at the same time as the removal. One team handles both, avoiding a separate contractor and making sure the garage is never left exposed for more than a day.
Flat roofs on extensions and outbuildings follow the same process. The asbestos layer is stripped, the substrate is inspected, and a new covering is applied if the structure is sound.

Need an asbestos roof removed?
Fully licensed, insured and HSE-compliant. Garage and outbuilding roofs across Surrey, Middlesex, Sussex & SW London, usually completed in a single visit.

How long it takes and what it costs
A standard single garage roof removal takes one day. We arrive, set up containment, strip the sheets, bag everything, and leave the site clean. Double garages or those with asbestos walls as well as roofing may take a day and a half.
Cost depends on the size of the roof, access to the property, and whether you want a replacement roof fitted. We provide a fixed written quote after a site visit. No hidden charges, no hourly rates. The price we quote is the price you pay.
